Keep the Layout or Change It
The biggest decision in any kitchen remodel is whether things stay where they are. New cabinets, counters and lighting in the existing footprint is one kind of job. Moving the sink, taking out a wall or adding an island with its own plumbing is a much bigger one.
We talk through both on the call, and the written scope shows what each choice adds before you commit.
Pieces of a Kitchen Remodel
Cabinetry and countertops
New or refaced cabinets, counters, backsplash and hardware, measured to fit the appliances you are keeping or buying.
Opened walls and islands
Removing a wall to the dining or living room, or adding an island, with the structure confirmed before demolition.
Lighting and circuits
Task lighting over counters, pendants above an island, and the added circuits a kitchen full of appliances draws on.
Sink and appliance connections
Sink, faucet, dishwasher, range and refrigerator water line hookups, including any plumbing changes a relocated sink or a new island sink needs.
Questions to Settle First
Time without a kitchen
Plan for several weeks at least. A temporary setup with a microwave, the fridge and a folding table makes it bearable.
Cabinet lead times
Cabinets often take weeks to arrive. Ordering them before demolition keeps the room from sitting gutted while you wait.
Where to spend
Keeping plumbing in place and putting money into cabinets and counters usually stretches the budget further than relocating everything across the room.
Kitchen Remodel Questions
When can the counters be measured?
After the base cabinets are installed and level. The fabricator templates from the real cabinets, which creates a short gap before the counters arrive. That gap is built into the schedule.
Can I keep my existing appliances?
Yes, as long as the new cabinets are sized for them. Have the model numbers or dimensions handy on the call so the layout fits what you already own.
